Open House
For the first time 24 Brussels based artistic laboratories and alternative management offices have joined together to show their practices and research in Open House on 17, 18 & 19 May. Focusing rather on artistic research processes than on final products, these structures provide national and international artists with time, space and tools to develop their works. Check the full program on Danscentrumjette invites you to attend different work processes, open rehearsals and showings of dancers, choreographers and other artists in residence during three afternoons:
17 May:
14:00 – 17:00 Boglárka Börcsök & Yukihiro Taguchi - Discounts (dance & discussion)
Two approaches, namely counting as isolating movements visually, and photographing as capturing stillness, are transformed by the stop motion technique into moving sequences. The result is a live performance by dancer Boglárka with a visual installation of Japanese artist Yuki.

18 May:
14:00 – 15:00: Bára Sigfúsdóttir - on the other side of a sand dune (work in progress)
Bára looks for old stories of her mother country Iceland. She transforms from a little girl into an old woman, an elf, a fish,… anything that our imagination allows us to see. In this theatrical solo, where dance, music and voice entangle, arises a reflection on our contemporary lifestyle that we experience through the glimpse of the past.

14:00 – 17:00: Boglárka Böcsök & Yukihiro Taguchi - Discounts (ongoing installation)

16:30 – 17:30: David Hernandez - Thirst

This choreography by David Hernandez is a duet for Stanislav Dobak and Colas Lucot on vocals of Phillipe Cap. Thirst is a short story told in movement that explores basic instinctive human needs: how does a body move when it wants or needs something, and when it is driven by something besides a thought process.

19 May :
14:00 – 14:30: Caroline D’Haese & Leena Keizer - excerpt Magdala

Two dancers turn each others reality inside out, and those of the women in between them. Anonymous bodies flow eternally through time and space, some stories come drifting on the surface and others never catch the daylight. Ongoing, always ending and starting, a history of female bodies. This landscape has no end. It is dirty, magical and quiet, it wrinkles. It’s tight and breakable.

14:30 – 15:00 : Caroline D’Haese & Leena Keizer (discussion)

14:30 – 17:00 : Boglárka Böcsök & Yukihiro Taguchi - Discounts (ongoing installation)

16:00 – 17:00 : Caroline D’Haese & Leena Keizer - open rehearsel Even
Three curved backs. Muscles that wriggle under the skin. A world upside down. Three rhythms of existence. Three rhythms that cross each other, accidentally stop at the same moment and continue apart from each other. Three spinning women. Images being replaced, split, recycled. Three different forms of one and the same struggle.

Like every last Friday of the month, the 25th of May we open the doors for new, upcoming talent and work in progress. Entrance is free and you have the chance to discuss the work after with a drink at the bar. We start at 19:30.
